Details for Am Faochagach
Am Faochagach is the undistinguished Munro summit of the vast rolling moorlands in Strathvaich Forest to the north of Loch Glascarnoch.
Am Faochagach's cairn is at 953 metres in the middle of a plateau which robs the views of any depth.
The ridge is broad with easy inclines and the summit is a low indistinct dome with two cairns. The distant panoramas are fairly extensive, with Beinn Dearg the most impressive nearby peak.
Usual access is via the north-west end of Loch Glascarnoch, but it should probably not be attempted during or soon after wet weather as Abhainn a' Gharbhrain which has to be crossed at the beginning of the day may be impossible when the river is in spate.
The number of registered munro-madness users who have climbed Am Faochagach is Nine
