Mountain Description for Broad Cairn

Broad Cairn is a munro in Scotand and is located in the area Glen Shee to Mount Keen as defined by SMC

(and lies in region known as The Lochnagar Hills )

Broad Cairn stands at the south eastern end of The Lochnagar Hills which is a twisting ridge made up from 5 munros that rise on the western side of Loch Muick by the Spittal of Glenmuick. Broad Cairn is a stony granite hill with heathery parts and a conical shaped summit elongated westerly to easterly. Cairn Bannoch is situated to the north-west of it's summit via a western ridge that twists northery over a couple of tops and is usually climbed alongside.

Usual access is via a bulldozed track up from Spittal of Glenmuick along the east side of the loch and up to a hut (700 metres) and then upto the summit via the south eastern ridge.
