Mountain Description for Carn Dearg (Alder region)

Carn Dearg (Alder region) is a munro in Scotand and is located in the area Loch Linnhe to Loch Ericht as defined by SMC

(and lies in region known as Ben Alder )

Carn Dearg (Alder region) is a remote munro that is sits on the end of a north eastern half of a elongated, evelated ridge between Loch Ossian to Loch Pattack and is the highest point on this high ridge. The summit is in the centre of it's long (3km) broad stony ridge which runs from the top Dollaid a' Chairn (925m) on the south-west to a minor top (827 metres) that overlooks crags of Coire Sron an Nid on the north-east. The north-west and south-east flanks of this munro are steep and rocky higher up.

The usuall access route is via its north-eastern shoulder via the paths from Culra bothy; Alternatively it it can be combined with the munro Geal-Charn (Alder region) via Dollaid a' Chairn on the south west.

In poor weather Carn Dearg has a tendency to be free from cloud giving good views even when it's neigbours on the south west are covered.
