Mountain Description for Geal Charn (Monadh Liath)

Geal Charn (Monadh Liath) is a munro in Scotand and is located in the area Glen Roy to Monadhliath as defined by SMC

(and lies in region known as Monadhliath )

Geal Charn is the westernmost of the Monadhliath range and is separated from the other tops by Glen Markie making it very hard to combine other munros and usually ascended on its own. It's best feature is the eastern corrie with it's high lochan "Lochan a; Choire" which feeds into Piper's Burn & Markie Burn. The summit point is marked with a rather large cairn.

Usual access is from Garva Bridge following a good track onto the heathery south-western ridge of Geal Charn onto the summit point. Alternatively, it can be climbed from Spey Dam onto Glen Markie following the eastern side of Markie Burn. Noting that you need to cross Markie burn which may not be possible in spate.
