Mountain Description for Maoile Lunndaidh
Maoile Lunndaidh is a munro in Scotand and is located in the area Glen Cannich to Glen Carron as defined by SMC
(and lies in region known as Monar )Maoile Lunndaidh is a large and very isolated mountain, covering an area in excess of 10 square miles, it is located almost equal distance between Glen Carron, Glen Strathfarrar and Strath Conon with the nearest public road being over 10 km away. It has a gravel flat summit with two peaks (Maoile Lunndaidh and Carn nam Fiaclan) separated by a narrow ridge between the two corries Fuar-tholl Mor & Toll a' Choin. Maoile Lunndaidh feels almost Cairngorm like in character with its extensive level summit plateau which seems out of place amongst the west coast peaks.
Usual access is from Craig in Glen Carron, because it is the slightly shorter choice and it is possible to use a bicycle up to the remote Glenuaig Lodge at the foot of Maoile Lunndaidh where the west edge of the Fuar Tholl Mòr corrie gives a save way to the summit. Alternatively theres a long approach from Strathglass which has restricted access allowed to motor vehicles by the locked gate at the entrance to Glen Strathfarrar at Struy.
