Mountain Description for Meall Gorm

Meall Gorm is a munro in Scotand and is located in the area Loch Maree to Loch Broom as defined by SMC

(and lies in region known as The Fannaichs )

Meall Gorm rises a few km to the north of Loch Fannich directly above "Fannich Lodge" and is situated on the south eastern section of The Fannaichs ridge. It's appearance from the Loch Fannich side from the road is a domed shaped peak and in fact has a flat rocky summit marked with a small carn. The northern corries along the ridge are splendid and hold a few lochans which feed into "Abhainn an Torrain Duibh".

On the south eastern end of Meall Gorm is a unmarked top (922m) which drop downs to "Bealach Ban" (775m) then connecting to An Coileachan also munro status and usually climbing in the same outing. This ridge that connects the 2 munros is wide and grassy.

Access is usually via Fannich Lodge on a path along Meall Gorm's southern ridge. However, access is gained from the north-east via the A835 on the north west of Loch Glascarnoch which gives a more varied days outing on the hills combining other munros on the ridge without having to retrace ones steps.
