Details for Sgurr a'Mhadaidh

Sgurr a' Mhadaidh is a munro in the central section on the Black Cuillin Ridge which overlooks Coire a' Ghreadaidh (Corrie of Torment) which is a huge open corrie situated to the west of neighbouring munro Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh<. All the water from this corrie flows down to form a whole series of waterfalls which eventually flows past Glen Brittle Youth Hostel which is the usual starting point to ascend Sgurr a' Mhadaidh.

The easiest ascent of Sgurr a' Mhadaidh is via the col An Dorus which was historically a crossing point used when the clans of Skye were having issues. An Dorus is a prominent gap at the head of Coire an Dorus giving access to the southern ridge the ridge requires scrambling and is exposed difficulties can be avoided on the west. It also give access to Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh< which is usually climbed on the same days outing.

The northern ridge which leads to Sgurr Thuilm (peak of the rounded hill) is longer and much more demanding and requires very good scrambling skills even rock-climbing skill to tackle the traverse from Sgurr Thuilm.
