Mountain Scrambling
The most difficult way up a mountain, is to climb via a crag or sheer face and this is rock climbing. Walking is the most straight forward way up a mountain.
Scrambling is a grey area between the two and one of the most exciting of all outdoor pursuits to be enjoyed. Scrambling is a very basic and probably most dangerous form of mountaineering.
Grading System
IW - Easy fell-walking on good paths or easy terrain.
2W - Strenuous walking over steep and rough terrain.
3S - Some easy scambling with little exposure.
4S - Exposed or strenuous scrambles: a rope not required by experienced parties in normal conditions. Overwise a proficient leader with a rope is recommended as a stand by.
R1 - Easy rock climb
RII - Rock climb graded Moderate - often very exposed
RIII - Rock climb graded Difficult.
RIV - Rock climb graded Very Difficult.
